In 2009,will it be possible for the government to turn off our TV sets at their will with digital technology?

Say, for instance, if the government hypothetically wanted to stop someone from watching a particular television broadcast on the new digital television format (starting in 2009), will the techology exist to allow such an interuption of a person's ability to receive certain television signals. For instance, if there is a cult in Waco, Texas, and they are hooked on a religious broadcast - - will the U.S. government simply be able to flip a switch and turn off their individual television sets? Does this technology exists within the new all digital television sets? Can they be individually identified, and can one tell what another person is watching on a digital television with the use of a special device that somehow reads what channel is being watched on a digital television set? Thanks. Any additional thoughts concerning this matter are certainly welcomed.

3. well the technology is available for every single things u just mention here even for analog signal but why would the government want to stop a cult they prefer cults cause they distract people from the real problems... and yeah sure they can make devises to make you stop watching tv but why would they want to do that? i mean the people who own the television companies are the ones who run our government so if there is any show that talks shit and has facts that would hurt our Republic they will sure not air them and fill in the blanks with some other retarded show such as MTV or some idiotic show to promote our Idiocracy... so yes everything u said could be made but like i said it wont be nessesary.
4. no, the broadcasts are sent from privately owned networks and if your set requires a box, it's nothing more than a fancy antenna. If it were possible, they'd be doing it with cable and satellite tv that is already using the technology.
5. It is just a process to provide a better picture and sound. The gov. can't control each set. Paranoia, relax. Don't watch TV if you are afraid. We do have a choice in these US of A states.
