Digital Camera - Home made AC Adapter?

I own a Pentax Optio E10 digital camera. It did not come with an AC Adapter but I wouldnt mind using one. I havent investigated the cost for one from the manufacturer but Im confident its overpriced. I do have several adapters from other electronic equipment around and wouldnt mind scavanenging from those to make my own adapter for the camera. Can someone walk me through the process of creating my own AC Adapter for this digital camera? Again I dont mind going to Radio shack or tearing apart an older adapter. Just to let you know I have tried plugging in all my adapters into the digital camera but it seems the port hole for the camera is too small to actually fit a connection to the adapter. That sux.

  1. You would have to get the right voltage and get the wires right the 1st time cause there is no second time.I would buy one off ebay new or used they are a lot cheaper than the manufacturer's
  2. You could use another adaptor but you have to match voltage AND current output of the manufacturers specifications or you undercharge the unit or overcharge it leading to something like what happened to those laptop batteries! Really a proper charger for your camera is required and yes they overcharge for them but they at least would replace the unit and even the camera if anything went awry. If you make your own charger then any warranties or guarantees would be void. Think about it. Good luck!
