What was the technology vital in pushing YouTube to one of the most visited websites? From a San /diego company which went public in September 2006. CEO vows to overtake Qualcomm as the largest company in San Diego. The technology is recommended by YouTube and Google and is the "glue that holds the entire digital media marketplace together".

What types of media are used in digital camcorders? And can they be re-used? do they use little DVD's or tapes or little memory sticks? I really am out of technology and was thinking of getting one. Which one is the best type? Pros cons, etc. Thanks!
Has technology made life easier, harder or just given us different problems? While one technology advances a rival technology advances to halt it. It should be a liberating thing that we have digital media players but it's not. If all players ran on the same formats or played all formats we'd have few problems. The problem is the record companies and the player manufacturers will not share their customers and play nicely like good little globalized maniacal corporations. But it's not just media players. There are compatability issues with so many things these days. HD-DVD vs Blu Ray ATRAC vs iTunes Windows Vista - history repeats itself. Will the corporations will sell more goods if we the consumers don't have to worry about compatibility? Do you play the brand loyalty game just to prevent these issues?
News Editor? I live about an hour away from Atlanta and am going to school for Digital Media Technology to become a News Editor and I was just wondering what a news editor's typical salary is. I've tried looking it up on web sites but I never get quite what I'm looking for.

Scholarships for low GPAs.? The past two year I have barely slacked off. I have taken all advanced classes such as AP Literature, College Writing, AP American History, CP Chemistry, Anatomy - I am going to a trade school for Digital Media Technology the only thing that doesn't qualify me for the NHS is my math. I am in 2 math classes, both very low grades. I've taken all low levels of math and still it brings my GPA down. I can truly say that I have worked my hardest but I am still at a 2.8. I inspire to go to a University in Saginaw and I would really like to get an Althetic Scholarship for women's hockey. If I can't do so - Are there any scholarships for someone like myself? What is the best digital camera for me? I am a photography major who finds that needs must, I need a digital camera. Since I will be a print media photographer, this is not for school, but for many other purposes, including digital manipulation. I am interested in something small and lightweight, very user-friendly, with the ability to be a point and shoot camera. I am not a technology friendly person, and invest the vast majority of my money in new lenses and film developing for my film camera. Any suggestions?

With the advent of broadband and multichannel digital television, should the UK public pay for TV Licenses? A popular bone of contention with everyone. The BBC is "uniquely funded" by the British Public - At the time of it's inception, state-owed television was nessecary due to the limitations on money, technology and cold-war propaganda. My question is, with so many providers of high end digital programming around (SkyB, Virgin Media), should the BBC still be funded by the taxpayer in the form of a TV License? Currently, all BBC services are available to citizens of other countries free of charge, so is it right the the UK public pay for a service the rest of the world uses, or should the BBC be privatised completely?

Is it important to have a degree in web page development? I use to be attending school to obtain a BS in Digital Media. I recently left the school because of the cost of tuition and deciding the major there wasn't right for me. I'm currently at community college getting a degree in medical office technology and finding the classes extremely boring. I'm engaged and to be married in 2009, my husband will have still a year left for his degree so we'll be living in an apartment while he finishes. I will need to get a job immediately so I don't have time to change my major right now since I have a short time frame to finish my degree while working part-time. Though, after my fiancé finishes his degree I'm considering going back to school for web page design. Though, I've been told before depending on how good your portfolio is you can be a web page designer without a degree. I'm still assuming it's very important to have a degree no matter what you're doing. For you that are already web page designers how important is it to have an AS or BS?

What colleges (undergrad) have a modern approach to architectural design? I would really like to design very modern, abstract buildings like that of Frank Lloyd Wright and use computers as much as possible so I'm looking for colleges that have a sort of artistic approach to design using sculpture or digital media as inspiration/resources. Some schools I'm considering are UPenn, Notre Dame, Roger Williams, Northeastern, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Lehigh, Carnegie Mellon, Drexel, Penn State, and Temple so any info on those programs or others would be very much appreciated!

Leaving Journalism, from reporter to ... ? It is becoming clear to me, as a young journalist, that the market for reporting jobs is troubled and uncertain at best. We won't go into why, because anyone who can help me out already knows. I'm a reporter now and trying to look at my long-term career plan. I know this won't last forever. Where do reporters go with a couple of years of experience and a desire to get paid what their worth? PR is out of the question but I'm going for a Master's in Digital Media and love technology/new media. Any ideas? Where have others gone? Correction: what "they're" worth (oops).

I have an old 45 rpm record my father made during WW2 in Europe. Can it still be heard? He sent it to his mother, and as far as I know, it has only been played once. What technologies exist to transfer this precious recording of my dad's voice to digital, permanent media? Where can I find someone to do this? I live in Michigan. Actually, it could easily be a 78 rpm. He made it at a USO in London or France, I believe.

Windows Media Player for video? When I upload pictures and video clips from my Kodak Easyshare DX7590 digital camera to my computer, the video clips are always .mov files used with Quicktime. I'd like to email videos of my son to my in-laws but they don't have Quicktime and they're a little technology challenged. I want to make it as easy for them as possible. How do I change the file extention of those video clips to .mpg or .mpeg.....or at least get them to open with Windows Media Player? And how do I get my computer to stop saving video clips as .mov?
For vista users only!! How is vista with downloading torrents or music/videos stuff n current media on my PC? I only want answers from current vista users ok... No outside opinions, just current vista users' first hand experiences. So i've read up on so much s**t about the DRM in vista. "DRM, short for "Digital Rights Management", is anti-piracy technology. DRM is used by digital copyright owners to control who gets to access and copy their work. In particular, DRM gives programmers, musicians and movie artists some ability to remote control how people can install, listen to, view, and duplicate digital files." (Paul Gil) 1. Is this going to effect the music and videos i already have on my pc after i get the vista upgrade? 2. Is it going to effect music, video or other downloads through stuff like limewire and torrent downloads?

I have lost almost all sound on my computer. How can I retore it? I use I-TUNES ON am Windows XP. I recently installed Audacity software which I have been using a usb turntable and a lame3.96 plugin to transfer my Records into i-tunes. It has been very complicated but I got it working. I recently addd a used, old technology digital video camera, and the software said it needed an older quicktime, so I downloaded the quicktime it wanted, and lost the newer quicktime I'd been using, and I lost my I-tunes. I restored the I-tunes, and even bought a song from I-Tunes store which played once. Then I lost all sound. My I-tunes is up and the songs pretend to play, my i-pod works fine with it but there is no sound on my computer. I went to severa audible websites where I gen No sound. I burned and deleted the LAME 3.96 Plugin thinking it could be the problem but still get no sound. My windows media player --- NO SOUND. wIll not even play a bought CD. HOWEVER AUDACITY SOFTWARE, AND everything I have saved there and any record PLAYS????
