How do I go about writing an essay on digital art? The essay is in relation to freedom. I chose to look at digital art. I was thinking I'd start with an introduction of what digital art is, going on to the history of digital art in the 50s/60s - perhaps then skip upto the 90s and use modern 'art'/artists. Through this essay I will write about Photoshop and other technology, while relating everything to freedom. Sorry, I'm panicking. I don't mean to put this question forward as a "do it for me" proposal, but does my process sound okay?
How did the audio industry transition from analog to digital professional recording? I am doing a research paper on the history of audio recording technology. I am really having trouble finding information that fills in the gaps between analog tapes to cds. I am looking for inventions and such to fill in the timeline, much thanks.

Has technology made life easier, harder or just given us different problems? While one technology advances a rival technology advances to halt it. It should be a liberating thing that we have digital media players but it's not. If all players ran on the same formats or played all formats we'd have few problems. The problem is the record companies and the player manufacturers will not share their customers and play nicely like good little globalized maniacal corporations. But it's not just media players. There are compatability issues with so many things these days. HD-DVD vs Blu Ray ATRAC vs iTunes Windows Vista - history repeats itself. Will the corporations will sell more goods if we the consumers don't have to worry about compatibility? Do you play the brand loyalty game just to prevent these issues?

Could you please help me to get rid of this? My situation I really need your suggestions, info, links, et cetera to get me break away from this computer addiction please. I have been living with computer since its advent, and I have been too long in this bit and byte world. I have almost no problem with my family and/or social matters (maybe), but certainly, I have problems with myself. I realize that my addiction to computer and internet has seized big values of my life. Please do not assume that I am addicted to the gaming, gambling, chatting, or sexual leisure online. I think I have really got the most of the computing and internet, I got answers for my quests in life: history, languages, hobbies, health, skill improvement, and other eye-openers, but I realized that at the end I just barely do not recognize myself. I knew that before the PC arrival, I was a simple human with a romantic and artistic mind inside, and then later I evolved to such a robot, to be precise: a slave of the technology. The internet had made me more tied to the PC, at first it delivered me the news of the world, marvelous things found there within the clicks and so on, but then made me deep drown into the pond of information. The cost and the lost Having knowledge to computer hardware made me always upgrade my gears. It made me spend big cost just to fulfill my lust over those times. My room is full with the old gears, gadgets, and things from online stores. My PCs and notebooks are full with MP3s, PDFs, and many things downloaded both free and paid. I also spent for many external/ portable harddisks for backing up and traveling. I do not mean to showoff, I just tell you how worse it was from time to time during about 20 years. I sometimes think about the lost time for repairing my gears, updating my softwares, browsing; and how many books that I have not read completely. There was a break One time, in two straight months last year, I spent my times with my son playing Tamiya, small racing cars in small tracks. It was wonderful that it made me totally forgot my computers. We have had most of the time together for racing, modifying, winding the wires for the tiny motors, etc. My wife was so amazed that the toys have made me away from the PC. It ended because of the coming rainy season that made us packed and boxed back the tracks and cars, and I simply switched back to the old routine. In search of healing I remember a precious phrase: Two kinds of those who lost; they are who looks for wealth and for knowledge. This phrase sometimes wakes me up but bad habit is addicting and I found myself always returned into that path. I think it is just similar to drug addiction. As the internet is an endless resource, I search through it for the cure, and I have found some articles about it and tried to implement them, but it always hard for me to liberate myself from my habit. I really hope that finally I find it in this forum, especially from you. Your helps, Please I know that some of you are familiar to manage some types of dependence, or maybe you have healed from the same situation. Whether you have some psychological, spiritual expertise, certain medication, or exercises, please share your advice, I need it badly. I do not want to clog the rest of my life in that digital world. There must be somebody else also in pain from the same thing, your kind suggestion will be very valuable and it will save some life. Thank you very much for sparing your time reading this lengthy note. God bless you. PS: I post this in Computing & Internet, Health, and Social Science with time interval, hoping to net more inputs. Please do not waste your time to put any unpleasant or unnecessary words, consider it will not only read by me but also by the other fellow readers. If you are not in the same situation with me, you perhaps still have the advantage of knowing the answers. Thank you, again.
History communication? Communication- Survey of the global digital access indicates that 10 countires, including South Korea, have better access to information and communication technology than the U.S. does. How's this a problem? What're some possible solutions?
I made history today (6/12/08) as the first to beat MGS4 in U.S.? The gamestop at my local mall got copies 1 day earlier than release date(6/13/08)and i picked one up. You start the game as snake, battling his newly found illness...Old Age. The Colonel recieves intel thatLiquid is making his military move in the middle east. You board a mercenary army truck and find yourself in the middle of warfare, where you finally meet up with Otocan.(Or his little robot MG) The most advanced technology is under your disposal. digital camoflauge, which, enables you to blend into any sceneray in the blink of an eye. The Snake Eye, which enables you to switch between night vision, radar vision, and binoculars. The mark II which basically is just fun. And most importantly the awesome new guns, which are completely customizable. Speaking of guns, early in the game you will meet a guns dealer named Drebin. You can sell extra guns to him for points, and buy more attachments or id weapons. Meet up with old characters and discover new ones in MGS4

Scholarships for low GPAs.? The past two year I have barely slacked off. I have taken all advanced classes such as AP Literature, College Writing, AP American History, CP Chemistry, Anatomy - I am going to a trade school for Digital Media Technology the only thing that doesn't qualify me for the NHS is my math. I am in 2 math classes, both very low grades. I've taken all low levels of math and still it brings my GPA down. I can truly say that I have worked my hardest but I am still at a 2.8. I inspire to go to a University in Saginaw and I would really like to get an Althetic Scholarship for women's hockey. If I can't do so - Are there any scholarships for someone like myself? on the radio just now? was listening to the neal bortz (sp) radio program and a caller said that in our lifetime, no one has come closer to being the anti-christ than barak obama himself, the caller went on to describe the messiah talk, and then you have the new blog yesterday saying that Jesus could have learned from obama how to be a "real" messiah and bring people together what do you say, do you find that obama is coming closer to being the anti-christ than anyone else in recent history. when answering keep in mind the prophesy of the fig tree, the micro-chip emplant that works like a credit card (digital angel technology) and the things that exist that did not exist when John saw the Revelation of Jesus Christ in 90 AD i do not think he is the anti-christ, but my question is he not the closest thing we have ever seen? first answer, you do not know my political affiliation and you are wrong second answer, this is suppose to be a forum to have fun on, are you not having fun? we have EMS and medical care if you have too much fun so enjoy yourself and don't be a stick in the mud! Marilyn, if you believe old school, old testiment scholars, who's radio broadcast ended in 1977, they believed that the military might of the united states would be destroyed in the middle east, this is before we were there with a military presence as we have now interesting stuff isn't it. obama today was selling out isreal, hense the response from the isreali media, isreal is not for sale, obama, end quote i will add this last point, the anti-christ will not be a fool, that alone keeps obama from being it, but it is interesting that where religion disqualifys conservatives running for office, this friend of terrorist along with racists is seen as having strength.

Posted By: shaista @ 03/01/2008 5:36:46 AM Comment: THE lunch hosted by Mr Asif Zardari for the newly elected members of the three leading parties on Feb 27 may well be remembered as a landmark in the long awaited transition to a democratic dispensation in Pakistan. The squalls that rocked the state on Oct 12, 1999 and in the form of the 17th amendment inflicted much damage. Then, the catastrophe of Nov 3 put all salvaging efforts beyond the capacity of any single party. The existing distortions in that historic but half-alive Constitution present a nightmare and demand the exercise of the highest form of political wisdom and legal expertise. The process of eliminating them by creating a new interface between politics and law has just begun. Pakistan???s present crisis is characterised by the bitter harvest of constitutional violations, growing imbalance between a power-hungry centre and the handicapped federating units, uncontrollable violence by ever-proliferating bands of extremists and, above all, by a rapidly rising table of sub-surface social anger at glaring inequalities of income and opportunity. A reasonably broad-based coalition government may provide a healing touch. There is no great virtue in a two-party system anymore as, for quite some time to come, regional aspirations will deepen particular identities of the constitutive elements of a diverse nation. The greatest achievement of the three top leaders present at Mr Zardari???s lunch is that they successfully persuaded their followers that these identities were perfectly compatible with an overarching national identity. Scratch the surface and lurking just beneath the protest against the humiliation of the higher judiciary and repeated violations of the Constitution is a palpable anguish of poverty and deprivation. Pakistan must eschew politics of vendetta but that does not mean that every crime against the state and society be brushed under the carpet. It needs a high-powered Commission on Truth, Justice and Reconciliation in the interest of historical accuracy and to build dykes for future security. We need to replace mercenary relations with relations based on mutual respect, community of interests and coordinated pursuit of common objectives within our respective national parameters. A strong and stable national coalition can be built around the present understanding between the PPP, PML-N and ANP. The US-led West should welcome it and not undermine it as it alone can make Pakistan???s battle against militant extremists effective The west should to withdraw their support from the one Musharaf who loathed by the people at maximum Posted By: shaista @ 03/01/2008 5:07:40 AM Comment: THE results of the election that took place on Feb 18 were astonishing. President Musharraf???s supporting party Pakistan Muslim League (Q) was wiped out and the ministers who were lucky enough to keep their seats are now at a safe distance from President Musharraf. The people at large want the president to go with no other choice. However, the US has been unduly interfering in our politics as its Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher has emphasised the need to continue President Musharraf???s rule. Pakistan has remained under military rule for more than half of its life, and the people no longer want any dictator to rule over them. As the PPP has secured the maximum number of seats, followed by the PML (N), the ties made between these parties also pose a serious challenge to the president???s stay any further in office. His rule for eight long years has brought many hardships to the nation and now he should quit The US slogan for democracy is and justice is just a slogan and in real and practicle not willing to be so for their own agenda From whome to expect the justice and democracy in the world the only power it self violate This is not the Musharaf pakistan but of 1,600/-Millions people and what they think of the rest This is not in the benifit of US to support the cruel one of the country who now the people think as Mechile G.Choaf The people and the young generation have very strong anti US sentiments due to their blind support of Dictator Musharaf This is not a good sign and this will increase with passage of time Posted By: eddiewhere @ 02/29/2008 2:12:44 AM Comment: IN THIS ENVIORNMENT OF ECONOMIC FEUDALISM WHERE THE MIDDLE CLASS MUST SUFFER IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE pROFITS OF MULTINATIONAL CORpORATIONS, WHO BENEFIT FROM CHEAp LABOR, THE AMERICAN DREAM HAS BEEN LOST. The government is now dominating our civil liberties. They are giving the states millions for Real ID Cards. This is just the start of government intrusion. Combine this with the misuse of the Patriot Act and the future Plans of insurance comPanies and corporations to have full access to our personal records and we have a real crisis. Credit Card companies have already started selling and sharing our personal information with the private sector. We really have to wake up and protect our constitution it is all we have to defend ourselves against interests that become too rich and powerful in this country. The government keeps expanding and is being predominantly controlled by special interest and lobbyist. The middle class is being weakened and our civil liberties are being threatened. Real ID Cards will not make "us safer" infacat terrorists can obtain fake ones and move about freely. The American people did not vote on Real ID Cards, we need a vote. Our constitution would have to be ammended in order for Real ID's to become legal. I do not know what has happened in Washington but it is getting out of hand. They know what they are doing is unconstitutional so they are trying to bribe the states by offering them money. I hope every state agrees with me and Prevents the federal govenment from imPosing THIS unconstitutional law. People in Pakistan voted in favor of Bhutto's party, not for Zardari, who was responsible for her twice ouster from the Premiership due to his shameful dirty roles of Mr.10%. Country's biggest grass root party preaching "Government of the People, by the People, for the People", which was founded on the basic principle of providing them respectable " Bread, Dress and Shelter", was created by Bhutto, hanged by a military dictator. Now, the party is orphaned in a bomb-blast death of his daughter during another military rule. Situation brings forth her rootless spouse, "Mr.Tenpercent Zardari", holding the People's mandate ( at ransom?), for endless exploits. Whatever the words mean, they cannot change the genes. The name "Zardari" literally means "Gold-Lord" and he lives his name literally. He was responsible for legislating and monopolizing gold import into Pakistan (through an Emirates based gold-tycoon of Pakistan origin) on a ridiculous 2% custom duty and made unfathomable ocean of fortune. If the US administration is ready," to let them have their rounds of discussions, still expecting the [Pakistani] Army to take the necessary military action, counting on an interesting transition", then the whole riddle is solved. The ongoing change in Pakistan is not a change of " act" in the drama being staged but, a "change of gear into a powerful all terrain drive", to move forward on the designed road-map, crossing effectively all rugged and bogging tracts en-route. Posted By: shaista @ 02/25/2008 5:19:05 AM Comment: The newly retired General Musharraf has displayed no intention of leaving office despite his king party losing even after plenty of evidence that he had planned to rig the elections. The caretaker government was anything but neutral and the Election Commission was suspect. But pressure from Washington compelled him to change his plans. Had he still engaged in massive rigging, not only would he have drawn Washington???s ire but also evoked ugly street protests. He knew that if the ???agitators??? caused the country to come to a standstill, the army would distance itself from him. Without their protection, he would not last a day in office. The habitual offender Musharaf this time fail for not carrying out a full pleadge crime of rigging due to international observer existing These people will never be convinced that it is time for the ex-general to go. To them, he is the embodiment of truth, the doer of all good things, and the prince of enlightened moderation without whom Pakistan would return to the Dark Ages. It is time for Musharraf, to wake up and realise that the game is over. Everything Musharraf stood for was repudiated on Feb 18. The electoral results have made it clear, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the people do not wish to see Musharraf holding court on radio and television day in and day out. Aitzaz Ahsan spoke for millions when he said, ???Musharraf is the most hated & loathed man in Pakistan.??? During the last several months, poll after poll showed Musharraf???s popularity plummeting like a lead coin in a bottomless well. But he continued to reject the polls by saying that they only represented the views of a few thousand people and asserted vainly that he was vastly popular in the populous countryside. But even the King???s party was not taken in by the myths spun out by the monarch. It knew that once rigging was no longer an option, its fate was sealed. Why else would they seek to obtain the release of one of the key instigators of the Lal Masjid takeover, Abdul Aziz, just days prior to the vote? This was an obvious ploy designed to play on the religious sympathies of the people and to garner much needed votes. How else could one justify releasing a real and confirmed terrorist from jail while holding the nation???s eminent justices and barristers under house arrest? Musharraf had said not too long ago that he would step down when he saw that the people were no longer with him. He said he was continuing as president only because it was in the national interest. He would rather be playing golf or tennis, he noted, but the situation required him to sacrifice his personal interests. Well, the time has now come for him to do the nation a favour and quit as he is the only evil for this country. The only worry Americans have about the moment to keep up Musharraf in Presidency because Musharraf has amended the constitution in such a way no one else can do any thing without his consent and authority. This is worrisome for the new elected politicians. They know very much the hard fact that they have not been elected on merits, it is the hatred against Musharraf they have en-cashed. Because Musharraf have destroyed the true democrative spirit of the Pakistan???s Constitution by extremely autocratic and extra constitutional way before conducting the general election so that he could do the post election rigging. If those powers are not taken away from the presidency then the politicians will be nothing more than tools in his hands. If the politicians failed to restore highest court judges that will mean they are empty handed. Moreover they won???t be able to face their voters who have sent them Islamabad to clean up the mess and deliver good to them. I need help making this longer or ideas on how to make it longer (photography research assignment)? Definition What is photography? Photography is the recording of a still image by any type of method. The result of photography is called a photograph or photo. Photography is usually taken through a camera either chemically or electronically. Today’s cameras are generally digital. Photography Uses Photography is used everywhere in today’s society. It is used often in businesses, sciences, art and pleasure. Scientist use photography to record and study movements, locations, and visuals. Artist will also use it to capture reality but they will also use photography to take different types of photography. Law enforcement will use it for surveillance, information storage, and recognition. But photography is not only used for careers, it is also used for day to day life. We use it to capture memories and tell stories, also to send messages and entertain us. Commercial advertisements have relied on photography for a long time. History Photography did not just appear they took a long time to develop. The first permanent photograph did appear in the 1820s but it took 8 hours to expose making sunlight visible on both sides of the photograph. It all started with camera obscuras invented in the ancient times, and then in the 16th century the brightness and clarity in camera obscuras were increased. In 1727 though professor J Schulze made the first photo sensitive compound when he mixed chalk, nitric acid, and silver and then noticed that darkening on the sides exposed to sunlight. 1800, Thomas Wedgewood made sun pictures by placing the mixture on leather then putting an opaque object on the leather but these pictures would deteriorate if viewed in light stronger then a candle.1816 Nicéphore Niépce combines camera obscuras with photosensitive paper then in 1826 he made the first permanent image. In 1834 Henry Fox Talbot created permanent negatives using paper soaking in silver chloride, and then fixed with salt solution, to create the positive he would contact print onto another sheet. In 1837 Louis Daguerre created images on silver-plated copper, coated with silver iodide and "developed" with warmed mercury, he did not patent this while in 1841 Talbot patented his under the name “calotype.” 1861 James Clerk-Maxwell demonstrates a color photography system using three black and white photos each taken through a red, green and blue filter. In 1871 Richard Leach Maddox, an English doctor, proposes the use of an emulsion of gelatin and silver bromide on a glass plate, the "dry plate" process. 1880, the first half-tone photograph appears in a daily newspaper, the New York Graphic. The first Kodak camera was made in 1888 with a 20 foot roll of paper for round images then in 1889 the roll of paper was replaced with film. In 1907 the first commercial film was produced. 1917, Nippon Kogaku K.K., is established in Tokyo (now known as Nikon). Strobe Photography established in 1931. 1934 Fuji photo film founded and by 1938 they are making cameras and lenses as well. 1948 polaroid introduces instant black and white film. 1963 Polaroid introduces instant color film. 1983 Kodak introduces the disk camera. The first digital camera was made in 1988. 1990 Adobe Photoshop released and the first commercially available digital camera, then in 1991 Kodak introduced the first professional digital camera. 2000, the first camera phone made in Japan and in 2004 Kodak stopped making film cameras. Influences on Society Photography has had a major impact on our society over time. The first impact it ever made on our world was when Matthew Brady captured images of the battlefields during the civil war. It did not only affect that war but many others including World War 1 and 2. But we don’t just take pictures of wars. They also made people aware of the abuse children received in factories. Photography has given us the sense of awareness of our world. Photographs show us all the different cultures, religions, and ways of life in different parts of the world. Photographs don’t only show people though they also show us animals and their habitats. Photography shows us joy, misery, and special memories. They even documents disasters. Now some photography is having a negative effect on us. With today’s technology photos are able to be manipulated to show us a fake version of a real person. It influences public’s opinions. Photography is like many words in one. My Opinion I believe photography was one of the best inventions ever. It has expanded what art is. Even though photography has a few negative effects on our society they can all be countered so the impact isn’t nearly as big. By advertising the way photos can be changed is making us aware of what pictures really are like. Digital and Film Digital and Film cameras are the two basic categories for cameras. There are two basic film cameras. Print film creates a negative with the colors inverted. These need to be developed. Color reversal film is called a transparency after it is develope
Please paraphrase this article? Disney buys Pixar By John Borland http://news.cnet.com/Disney-buys-Pixar/2100-1026_3-6030607.html Story last modified Tue Jan 24 18:03:09 PST 2006 Walt Disney announced Tuesday that it's paying $7.4 billion in stock to acquire Pixar Animation Studios--a deal that puts Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs on Disney's board of directors. For the venerable animation giant, the move is a significant bet on Pixar's digital approach as the successor to the pen-and-ink industry popularized by Walt Disney. The purchase is also the latest indication of a tectonic collision between technology and Hollywood. Listen up CNET News.com reporters talk about the implications of the Disney-Pixar deal. Listen now... (10MB mp3) As part of the deal, expected to be completed this summer, two Pixar veterans will head Disney's animation efforts. Ed Catmull, who had served as Pixar's president, was named president of the combined Pixar and Disney Animation Studios. John Lasseter, the Pixar executive vice president who is widely regarded as the studio's creative leader, was named chief creative officer. Pixar will remain in its San Francisco Bay Area headquarters. Jobs said Pixar's main choices came down to selling out to Disney or working with another studio under a deal like Lucasfilm has with Twentieth Century Fox, in which the larger studio gets only a distribution fee. The latter option was somewhat attractive, Jobs said, but would still result in an arrangement with "two companies with two separate sets of shareholders and two different agendas." related coverage Pixar goes to Hollywood "Disney is the only company with animation in their DNA, and the only company that we think has this incredible collection of unique assets like the theme parks, that are very attractive to us as well," Jobs said on a conference call with investors. "They're the only company who has Bob Iger, who we like a lot and have grown to trust." Though Disney is issuing $7.4 billion worth of stock, it's paying closer to $6.3 billion after factoring in Pixar's cash holdings of slightly more than $1 billion. Pixar shareholders will receive 2.3 Disney shares for every Pixar share they own, a move that will make Jobs the largest individual shareholder of Disney. Pixar and Disney have had a long history together, though the recent past has been rocky. Pixar has had an uninterrupted string of hit features with "Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "A Bug's Life," "Monsters Inc.," "Finding Nemo" and "The Incredibles." Disney has distributed all of them. Listen up Apple and Pixar CEO--and now Disney partner--Steve Jobs talks about why he thinks Disney is a good fit for Pixar. Listen now... (2.9MB mp3) However, talks to extend the deal turned sour, with allegations flying back and forth between Jobs, who is also Pixar's CEO, and Disney's then-CEO Michael Eisner. In January 2004, Pixar announced it was breaking off talks with Disney and would look elsewhere for a studio partner to release its films. Things seem to have improved of late, though, as Disney has emerged as a major iTunes partner for Apple, with Jobs and newly installed Disney CEO Robert Iger appearing onstage at last year's launch of the video iPod. In addition to his role at the animation studio, Lasseter will serve as principal creative adviser at Walt Disney Imagineering, reporting to Iger, and will help design Disney theme parks. The deal is subject to regulatory approval as well as the nod from Pixar shareholders, though Jobs owns 50.6 percent of Pixar. He has agreed to vote shares representing at least 40 percent of Pixar in favor of the deal--enough to push the deal through even if significant opposition arises, though none is expected. Pixar's stock rose $1.43, or 2.48 percent, in after-hours trading, to $59. Disney's fell 5 cents, or 0.19 percent, to $25.94. "New Yorker" media writer Ken Auletta, who has followed Disney for many years, compared the deal to Time Warner's merger with America Online. Both Disney and Time Warner represent venerable media companies that stumbled as their businesses went high tech, and looked to a native of the new media environment for help, he said. News.com PollCan Steve Jobs restore Disney's lost luster? No Not without more control Without a doubt View results The Time Warner-AOL merger has been rocky, aptly illustrating the potential pitfalls of Old World-New World links. But Disney's decision to ally itself with Jobs could be a savvy choice, Auletta added. "This is a guy who has an amazing track record over a long period of time," Auletta said. "He's not a one-shot wonder. If you can get Jobs on your team, and then make sure he has a stake in the company succeeding, that's a desirable thing." The deal merges two opposites in the animation world: the historic leader in the art form, now grown into one of the biggest corporate entities in the world, and the high-tech trailblazer that former employees say has kept an intensely "family" feeling while creating a string of hugely popular hits. "The great thing about working (at Pixar) is the directors are in-house," said Bobby Beck, a seven-year Pixar veteran who left in 2004 to start online animation school Animationmentor.com. "You really develop a relationship with the directors. They get to know you on a first-name basis." That disparity could set the stage for a distinct culture clash between the large and the small. Indeed, the prospect of the purchase has dismayed some fans of Pixar, who are wary of seeing the independent studio lose its spark of originality. "Pixar is a remarkable place," said Doug Ward, the manager of the animation program at the University of California at Los Angeles. "The concern that we would have...is who's going to run it? Is it going to become another big corporate arm of Disney?" Both Jobs and Iger said they would do everything they could to preserve the organic nature of Pixar's culture, however. "Most of the time that Bob and I have spent talking about this hasn't been about economics," Jobs said. "It's been about preserving the Pixar culture--because we all know that's the thing that's going to determine the success here in the long run." "We spent a lot of time talking about that when we negotiated the deal," Iger agreed. "I am really deeply committed to seeing that Pixar is allowed to exist in the form it has existed."
